Duels are the symbolization of ones prowess i think, because at the end of the day, those who show promise and defeat many enemies have talent, where as those who lose a lot of duels need to pick up their pace and try.
Duels aren't ever made to make people feel worthless, it's like a little fun test between two people, even three in some cases.
Just never forget the rules to a duel, which i shall explain, the first step however, is understanding the two simple [stages] of a duel.
the first [stage] is a friendly match, this is merely an encounter between friends or rivals, and no one can die, if..by whatever chance a character is killed, then it can not effect the real rpg, under any circumstances..ok, so if you have a friendly and die, it doesn't matter.
The other [stage] is a little different, as it's a [to the death] duel, which as it clearly states, is a duel that leaves only one character alive, you will get bonuses for these duels if you win, as for the loser, you die sadly, your main character is completely useless, so you must create a character.
Now the stages have been cleared up, I'll explain the basic rules and principles of a duel.
No God-Modding - This is a serious rule, one that i shall be watching over carefully, the term [god-modding] is used to describe when someone pretends to be god-like, as this is fantasy, I'm not looking for realism, but even a shape-shifter cannot transform into a ninja, dart behind an enemy, do a long magical attack and finish his cup of tea within the matter of 1 second, be realistic in terms of time, if your seen abusing your skills or god-modding to much, you'll be warned and your move will be voided, continuing to do this will result in a harsher punishment.
Auto-Hitting - The most important rule, the term used for [auto-hitting] is basically when someone directly kills an opponent, this is void, 100% void. The reason for this is every attack must be indirect, this way your opponent can have a chance to defend or evade the blow, in some cases you may think you have an opening, if that's the case and you think you can win by a move, ask a member of staff to see what they think, if your caught auto-hitting people you'll lose your post and your enemy will naturally get a free strike, so be careful, i won't tolerate cheaters.
No-Concealed Weaponry - This is so self explanatory it's unreal, but for those who are going..erm..what. then I'll explain, in the beginning of a duel, you must state what weapons you are using, and you must use only the magical abilities your character already has, so, using anything that you haven't got, like a hidden katana is cheating, and you'll have that entire post voided. so be warned, no concealed weaponry.
